Just come back to SimSig after a break of about six months.

Had just returned to Tilbury after excellent short cruise to Amsterdam and Antwerp.

Shame I had to drive to and from ship when Tilbury Riverside was open for passenger trains till 1992!

Duly downloaded and paid for new LTS sim as soon as I found it.

Is proving to be favourite sim so far! Happy to leave ARS to control passenger trains while I regulate the freights.

Had a bit of grief getting to grips with Ground Frame at Ripple Lane initially!

Just have one query/request:

The passenger train descriptions are pretty self explanatory. However. am struggling with deciphering some of the freight train descriptions.

ie Origin and destination seem to be limited to 7 characters.

I worked as a TOPS clerk in Willesden, Crewe and Warrington from the early 80s to mid 90s so can decipher most of these codes from memory/guesswork.

Ha! I still remember most of the above areas in terms of 5 digit TOPS codes (Willesden Brent = 72230 etc)!

Am currently regulating 4L52 0910 WLSDBFL - THMSFLI

Assume this is Willesden to Thameshaven.

Is there an internet site available to convert these 7 character abbreviations into full?

If not, could somebody possibly create a simplifier for those codes used in this simulation?

Would add a lot of enjoyment to such a great sim - especially for the freight trains.

Many thanks

Glad you're enjoying it! Here's a website with TIPLOC codes (amongst others): CRS, NLC, TIPLOC and STANOX Codes

Thanks Geoff!
Gobsmacked with speed of reply!
That site is just what I needed - can now translate TIPLOCs to STANOXs with ease!
Brilliant - am oldschool in picturing BR in 5 digit numbers...
Must get back to Sim now!
Cheers

Geoff I seem to remember about 12 months ago there was some discussion of either extending the length of the 'Train Description' or adding a second row where the formation of the train & or 'Train Name'(eg: Highland Chieftain'could be added instead of putting it all on the single line that we have at present. Is this still on the drawing to do, or has this now been abandoned?

It was done a while back and scrolls over into more than one line IIRC.
