Derby 2011Note that the venue has changed from previous years!
Payment is required in advance for this event - see below.
CrossCountry trains serve Derby from various parts of the country. A direct service is available from London on the Midland Main Line, provided by East Midlands Trains . Lots of local services mean access from other cities is easy. The pub is about 300 yards walking distance from the railway station main entrance: go out of the station's main entrance, turn right, walk across the car park entrance and up to the main road, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, turn right, follow this road parallel to the railway and the pub is on the left-hand side shortly before the junction.
Take any of the following routes from the new Riverlights bus station; 40/42/44/45 (bay 14/15, they run every few mins) to the Calvert Street bus stop on Railway Terrace. This is across the road to the venue. The return trip is made from the stop right outside the pub. Take any bus from there to the bus station & get your coach. If anyone wants meeting off the coach then you are invited to send a Private Message the user 'derbybest ' to arrange this. You can also PM the same person if you want any local information.
National Express coaches use the new Riverlights bus station, so proceed as for local buses above. The local buses to the meet go from the same building. Please see section above on how to get there. If anyone wants meeting off the coach then you are invited to send a Private Message the user 'derbybest ' to arrange this.
There is no parking at the pub itself however there are several short- and long-stay car parks within a mile of it - SatNav users are advised to use the postcode DE1 1RU. If you're staying overnight then your hotel or B&B might have parking.
A buffet lunch will be provided. Usually served about 1pm. A range of meat, poultry, vegetarian, hot, cold, simple, and spicy food has been provided in the past. Please specify on the event sign-up form if you have any special dietary requirements.
Prices subject to change. The pub has its own microbrewery on site and also serves a good range of cask beers as well as the usual lagers, ciders and "smooth" beers.

Those with laptops for use by the SimSig public, please arrive by 11:30, and register. Those without laptops, please wait until noon when (hopefully) everything will be ready.
The entrance fee is £8 and includes the buffet and administration fees. Payment is required in advance for this meet as we order food for a specific number of people. When more people turn up on the day without paying in advance, it reduces the food selection for those who were considerate enough to pay in advance. We realise that some people may not be able to confirm until closer to the date but hope you understand the situation.
For those who do not like using the online Shop or PayPal (or both), a cheque can be made for £9 per person addressed to SimSig Ltd and addressed to SimSig Ltd, 104 White Eagle Road, Swindon, SN25 1PS. The price reflects the increased cost for me to process a cheque compared to an online payment.
There is no entrance fee for those arriving after 2pm. However, if you have not paid in advance then entry will not be permitted until 2pm. It is unfortunate that the good natured majority has often been spoilt by a small few who try to eat without paying, hence our stance on this subject.

Buffet lunch, shared access to a set of multiplayer simulations (including a couple of surprises), tutorials on how to play SimSig.
The Smart Aston Court Hotel is very close to both the railway station and the venue.
The European Inn previously suggested has changed name since last year, but is still the same management. It is now the Hallmark Inn . Having checked online at the time of writing, they offered a double, twin or family room for one or two people from £45, but this price may go up the closer to the meet you book. They also offered Full English Buffet Breakfast for £6.50, complimentary WiFi and complimentary parking on-site. Special offers and deals for all types of group bookings should be available - call them for more information: 01332 292000. Guests are very welcome to bring in takeaway meals in the evening.
Your choice of accommodation is up to you; the Aston Court is mentioned as it has previously served us adequately and is in a good location. LateRooms was offering it as £38.54 (single room, no breakfast) a couple of days ago.
Please offer other recommendations if you know of further suitable accommodation.

Please offer recommendations.
Normally a curry followed by drinks in a pub, both of which are a short walking distance from the venue and railway station. The curry is usually from around 7pm to 9pm. If you are travelling home on the Saturday night, try to make travel arrangements after 9pm otherwise you may not have enough time for the curry.
Unofficially, some users are planning a trip to Sheffield for a curry and then an evening in Sheffield Tap . This involves a 30-40 minute train ride at your own expense to Sheffield. The intention is to use the group travel discount for the journey to Sheffield. The plan is to be on the 18.10 to Sheffield and return on the 21.54 or the 23.20 (which are the last two trains). Anybody is welcome to join. For more details speak to the user Alan ('agilchrist')
