Workstation 1

Westburn Branch

Only in use in the 1980 era. The Westburn line works automatically either sending trains into the sidings at Westburn, or continuing through to Carmyle. The line occupied light illuminates when the through line is occupied and clears if the train enters the sidings at Westburn. Trains from Wesburn sidings will phone panel 1 for permission to enter. The points at Westburn are facing for trains heading from Carmyle towards Newton.

Newton

The Goods and Passing loops in the 1980 era are all permissive . Signal M155 is approach lit .

Routes from shunt signals towards M145, M154 and M158 must be set towards the white shunt arrows adjacent to those signals. From the 1990 era onwards, Newton platform 1 is permissive; call-on routes must also be set towards the white shunt arrows.

Newton turnback siding has a 5mph speed limit. Where trains are delayed, or other traffic causes conflicts, it may be worth editing the timetable of trains shunting via the siding to allow it to terminate in Platform 1 and proceed directly back towards Cathcart. Alternatively, trains may be reversed at M161 (set the route to the white shunt arrow at M174). Before the turnback was provided, trains typically reversed via M155.

Flashing yellow sequences are provided from the mainline to Newton station from 1990.

M147 was permanently collared for a long period until the latest re-modelling of the station; this is reflected in the 2000 era. Trains should not be routed via M147 in this era.

Uddingston

Note that trains from Motherwell approach very quickly, particularly if they did not stop there, and will receive a double yellow before entering Workstation 1 if M193 is not cleared.

Hamilton Central

Due to current simulation limitations the cross-over to the single line is a split single TC. Signal M226 will not clear unless points 55 are Normal or a route is set from M228, or M226 is in auto mode. Note that if a route is cancelled from M228 while M226 is not in auto mode, M226 will also revert to red until the points revert to the Normal position.

If no route is set from M228, the single line points are locked normal for 120 seconds after M228's berth track circuit is occupied.

Ross Junction

Ross Junction, at the Motherwell end of the single line section from Hamilton Central, is controlled by Workstation 4, however due to SimSig limitations, calls from the signals at Ross Junction will be sent to Workstation 1. See the Workstation 4 notes for more details.

The junction was re-named Haughhead Jn and brought under the control of Workstation 1 when the Larkhall branch opened.

Larkhall Branch

The signals at Allanton Loop are approach lit.

The branch is has an auto-working function generally used during the off-peak service, which is available in non-ARS mode. The default platform is 2 but 1 will be selected if 2 is unavailable.

TRTS is provided at Larkhall.
