Oxted Splash Screens

The following splash screens are supplied with this simulation.

Shot number Description
No.1 The interior of the new signal box being built by the Spa Valley Railway. When commissioned this will control the station area and the passing loop at Groombridge. All the levers are in place and and few of the signalling instruments on the block shelf can be seen to be in place.
No.2 The view from the new Groombridge box towards Eridge. The newly installed passing loop can be seen, although this has not yet been commissioned. In the distance the former line towards Ashurst can just be made out with stock awaiting restoration being seen.
No.3 The platform starting signals awaiting commissioning, the signal to the right will read to the up loop in the down direction and the signal on the left will route to the main line and onwards to Birchden Junction.
No.4 Visiting loco 5521 departs from the former down loop onto the Spa Valley single line prior to taking the next service from Eridge towards Tunbridge Wells West. This move is controlled by Spa Valley staff under a ground frame located in the undergrowth.
No.5 The former signal box at Eridge now sadly in a state of disrepair and boarded up. This structure can be seen in the background of splash number 4.
No.6 The line looking south towards Crowborough, First impressions here do not count as the 45 mph speed board that appears to read on the Spa Valley single towards the buffer stops actually applies to the Uckfield single on the right hand side.
No.7 The old and new order at Eridge. Visiting loco 5521 and Selhurst allocated 171725 awaiting departure from Eridge with trains for Tunbridge Wells West via the newly reopened Spa Valley Line and Oxted via Cowden. 5521 is stood on the former down main line.
No.8 An unidentified Southern 171/8 unit heading for Uckfield departs from Crowborough and will shortly pass an up service which is seen in shot number 9.
No.9 A northbound service departs from Crowborough bound for London Bridge and was formed of two 171/8 units. This service and the train seen in picture 8 would have passed each other during their passage of Crowborough Tunnel.
No.10 A northward view from Crowborough showing Crowborough Junction in the background, The signals with the blue heads are SPAD signals installed along the Uckfield line after the unfortunate accident at Cowden in the mid 1990’s.
No.11 Looking south from Crowborough towards Uckfield. On the right can be the signal that allows trains to terminate in the down direction at platform one and restart as up trains. Note that in real life there is no route from this signal towards Uckfield and this is replicated in the simulation.

All current splash screens were taken by the author of the simulation. The Eridge and Groombridge pictures were taken during the Spa Valley 1940’s weekend.
