ARS requires full instructions on where to send the trains and where the are choices to be made this is done using the Path/Platform/line code. Whether you are running in ARS mode or not the timetable needs to conform to these conventions. In most instances of normal running the codes should self-propagate. However, trains passing through Arkleston do require the line code to be added manually. This is because there is more than one option between the locations and the coding needs a helping hand. There is a quirk whereby if you "double validate" that is press the validation button twice it will generally sort itself out.
At the time of writing the Sim as the real box did not have ARS the need for official codes for lines did not arise so there was no reference to be made. In consequence the codes used were made up by me.
The standard codes are

Platform numbers are used for Platforms (Paisley, Ayr etc), loops (DPL/UGL etc) and also for reversing behind signals.
