SimSig Victoria South Eastern

Introduction

Welcome to SimSig Victoria South Eastern! This simulation has been over three years in development with several visits to the real life signalbox to confirm details. Along with scheme plans, interlocking control tables, gradient information, and much more information, this is as accurate to real life as SimSig can be.

Overview

Victoria signalbox actually consists of two seperate sections, Central and South Eastern. This simulation covers the South Eastern side, and a Central simulation is also available. The two sections are located in the same room near Clapham Junction station. The operating floor consists of an oval central raised platform upon which supervisors and management oversee the operation of the box as a whole. The signallers face two large curved panel sections, operating from separate desk consoles.

The area covered is roughly Victoria station in London and the south-eastern suburbs of London. South Eastern covers the lower numbered platforms at Victoria, Brixton, Longhedge Junction, Blackfriars, Loughborough Junction, Nunhead, Herne Hill, Beckenham Junction, Shortlands Junction, Bickley Junction, Swanley, Fawkham Junction, and Otford.

Six to seven signallers operate the South Eastern side at a time. The seventh person is required during rush hour on panel 10, when the panel is split between A and B sections.

Chaining

Victoria South Eastern can be chained to several simulations:

  • Victoria Central (in seven places)
  • West Hampstead (one place)
  • London Bridge (four places)
  • Ashford IECC (five places)
  • Wimbledon1 (two places)
  • Ashford High Speed 1 (one place)
  • Maidstone East (one place)
    • 1 Two simulations can be changed here: Wimbledon and Waterloo. The simulations can only be chained to Wimbledon/Waterloo and West Hampstead if Victoria South Eastern is run in 1993 mode or later, as the Thameslink line/Waterloo curve do not exist in 1980-88 mode.

Note that this lists possible connections. It does not imply that a simulation exists, or will exist.

My thanks go to the Victoria ASC signalling staff, in particular Mark Camp and Matt Cooper. Thanks also to my ICT team who tested, broke, criticised, cajoled, and pretty much just finessed the simulation into what it is today.
