Stourbridge Junction

The Stourbridge Junction simulation covers the line north west from Birmingham Snow Hill through the suburbs towards Worcester. Traffic is primarily local services, which turn back at various points along the route to provide higher frequencies closer to the city. A small amount of freight traffic is present, serving the industrial area at Round Oak; the area once saw considerably more freight traffic but much of the infrastructure is now mothballed pending removal. There is a connection to the lines into Birmingham New Street at Smethwick, for a time the main route for traffic to Stourbridge, but now used only for diversions and associated route knowledge trips in the early morning and late evening.

In the earlier era, semaphore signalling an absolute block working featured beyond Stourbridge, and both are replicated in this simulation. Another oddity is the Stourbridge Town branch, which is served by a shuttle service, latterly in the hands of Class 139 Parry People Mover units, which are entirely captive to the line- their maintenance building is just beyond the platforms at Stourbridge Junction, and they are not permitted to use the wider network.

Stourbridge Junction is a Payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
