To find signal numbers:
Open the options window (F3),
Select the control tab (3rd along top),
Uncheck 'Right click cancels route'
If you now place the cursor over the signal and right click, the signal number and a few other options, are displayed.
A signal number plan, which can be searched electronically, can also be found in the simulation's manual and on this Wiki page: Signal Number Plans
