Map of Location
Train
CrossCountry trains serve Bristol from various parts of the country. A direct service is available from London on the Great Western Main Line, provided by First Great Western. Lots of local services as well mean that access from both near and far is easy. The pub is about half a mile walking distance from the railway station main entrance: go out of the station's main entrance, turn right at the foot of the approach onto Temple Gate, bear right at the roundabout onto Temple Way, walk across the river bridge and the Stag and Hounds is on the right at the next roundabout.
Bus
TBC
Coach
National Express coaches serve Bristol Coach Station from various locations. The venue is under a mile walking distance from the coach station.
Car
There is no parking at the pub itself however there are several short- and long-stay car parks within a mile of it - SatNav users are advised to use the postcode BS2 0EJ. If you're staying overnight then your hotel or B&B might have parking.
Air
Bristol has a busy regional airport with budget services from many UK and European airports. The Airport Flyer Express Link bus service operates 24/7 and connects the airport to Bristol Coach Station and Bristol Temple Meads.
Food
An excellent buffet was provided. Andyb0607 has recorded it for posterity:
Drink
Prices subject to change.
The pub serves a good range of cask beers as well as the usual lagers, ciders and “smooth” beers.
WiFi
The pub had free WiFi access as well as our own WiFi network for the multiplay session
Room Layout
We had a bank of tables at one end of the room for those who wished to work and seats and tables in the rest of the room for those who wished to socialise. We lost these tables at 13:30 as they were all taken over by the buffet. Again recorded by Andyb0607:
Times
Those with laptops for use by the SimSig public, please arrive by 11:30, and register. Those without laptops, please wait until noon when (hopefully) everything will be ready.
Entrance Fee
£8.00 if paid in advance (by 8th. March). It will also be possible to pay on the door but this will cost £10.00. Advance payment may be made through the Shop . For those who do not wish to use Paypal through the Shop, advance payment can be made by cheque. Please PM Postal for details.
Where To Stay
There is a Hotel Ibis close by which currently (15/01/13) has rooms on offer over that weekend at £43.00 per night.
Please offer other recommendations if you know of further suitable accommodation.
Saturday night
On this occasion there were no post-meeting arrangements
With only 10 laptops in use, we still set up a mega chain using Bristol as the master and chaining Exeter, Westbury, Swindid and Gloucester using Noel Young's 2009 TT, starting at 0445. All of the tecchie bits worked well, the chaining was all successful and any problems on the day were down to those sitting at the keyboards.
