Coal Yard Signal CY102 is approach controlled from Red or requires Signal CY25 to be showing a proceed aspect; CY25 is also approach controlled from red unless CE144 is showing a proceed aspect. This results in slow approaches to Crewe station unless the train requires either Platform 5 or the Up Fast and the route can be set in good time. Depending on other traffic and the maximum speed of trains involved, it may be preferable for trains to lines other than P5 or the UF to be routed to the Up Slow at Winsford.

Via buttons are provided for trains leaving the Up Sidings. These are not needed for trains entering the sidings.

Note that only 180m is available between CE146 and CE146LOS.

Coal Yard must grant a slot to Crewe PSB for the PSB to set a route to CE146LOS. Granting this slot also locks the points to the Up Independent normal.
