On this sim there are quite a few Ground Frames controlling access from and to sidings and also emergency crossovers. As a general principle Frames will not open if the protecting signals are not Red or if a route is set through the controlled area. Each frame normally has at one release lever that locks all the other levers Normal. There may be variations to these principles in specific cases which will be covered below. Point levers should be locked (either way) if the TC containing the point is occupied. Otherwise controlled points and signals should be interlocked. Unless explicitly stated below there is no interlocking between frames. Some of the frames have mandatory timetable locations where the train should be timed stop while staff open/close the frame.
Ground Frame | Release Requirements | Locations |
---|---|---|
Admiralty siding | This frame is several miles from the protecting signal PH525. The GF controls access to/from the siding. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Largs mainline and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Fairlie Admiralty GF |
Bishopton | Two frames (with 120s timeout before use). The siding frame can be used for down trains accessing the siding and has no effect on Up train running. The frame release lever requires Signal P55 to be ON and another lever controls the PL aspect on P55. The Crossover GF is also required for trains exiting or entering the siding using the Up line. | Bishopton GF |
Brownhill CE | The GF controls access to/from the siding. On releasing the frame one virtual signals will appear (siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signal and the PL aspect of PG202. | |
Fairlie High siding | This frame is a mile or so from the protecting signal PH525. The GF controls access to/from the siding. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Largs mainline and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Fairlie High siding GF |
Gallowhill Sidings | The GF controls access to/from the siding. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (DGL and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. Note that the DGL signal will also allow trains to move towards P9. | |
Greenock Central Siding | The GF controls access to/from the siding. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Up Gourock and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | |
Greenock crossover | The GF controls the crossover. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Up&Down Gourock) and signal P102 will be forced Red. The frame has 1 point lever controlling the points and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Greenock West GF (Down), Greenock West GF (Up) |
Kilwinning CE | The GF controls access to/from the CE siding. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (UGL and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | |
Langbank crossover | The GF controls the crossover. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Up&Down Gourock) and signals P59 and P57 will be forced Red. The frame has 1 point lever controlling the points and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Langbank GF (Down), Langbank GF (Up) |
Paisley C&E | The GF controls access to/from the CE siding. On releasing the frame one virtual signal will appear (siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signal and P28. | Not 2015 |
Monkton | The GF controls access to/from the airport oil terminal. On releasing the frame two virtual signals will appear (Up Ayr and siding). The frame has 1 point lever controlling the siding point and 2 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Monkton GF |
Shewalton GF | The GF controls access to/from both the Coup (tip) and Hillhouse Quarry. On releasing the frame three virtual signals will appear (Dn Kilmarnock and the two branches). The frame has 2 point levers controlling the siding point and 3 signal levers controlling the virtual signals. | Shewalton GF |
