EdinburghEO903 has a repeater located closer to Dunfermline Queen Margaret's platform end.
The headshunt and EO903 may be used interchangably be reversing trains (provided the train's destination can be reached).
ARS will not set call-on routes into the goods loops, nor will it set routes for freight trains following the run round.
It is advised to wait until the booked departure time before carrying out a run-round move; you may also wish to take Halbeath level crossing out of Auto-Raise to allow the loco to head back to the loops without having to lower the barriers again. Note also that the overlap of EO729 extends across the points at the end of the loops.
The barriers at Halbeath will lower as soon as a route is set over the crossing; this also allows ARS to lower the barriers, however the player will still need to operate the 'Clear' button.
ET764 is provided for trains bound to Bowhill only; there is no route to EC760 at Cowdenbeath.
A phone call must be made to the yard prior to signalling a train into the yard.
EK838 and EK842 may be used interchangably for reversing trains. Trains booked to reverse at these signals will not exit the area if routed into the yard.
Many trains from Cowdenbeath terminate here; you will need to check the route required by the next working before signalling the train into the station, due to the track layout beyond the station.
Signalling a train towards Cowdenbeath will lock up West junction until the train has departed Thornton; take care before allowing an early-running train into the station, or if the train is booked to stand at Glenrothes for a long period of time.
The Ground Frame controls the point on the Down Fife (Lever 2) and the hidden point between the Yard and the Auchmuty Branch (Lever 3). Lever 2 must be reversed for all trains moving between the Down Fife and Markinch Yard/Auchmuty. Lever 3 must be reversed for trains destined for Markinch Yard and left Normal for Auchmuty Branch trains. Lever 3 is not used for trains returning towards the Down Fife. Once a train has entered at Markinch Yard or the Auchmuty Branch it will run as far as the Ground Frame signal. To avoid a conflicting movement a train cannot be sent into the Yard/Branch once a train booked from Markinch Yard or Auchmuty has entered.
Take care before allowing an early-running passenger train into the station, as the train and its route will foul the Up and Down Fife until the train departs Ladybank.
The branch loop is authorised for passenger trains, and EB671 is approach-lit.
Hilton Junction is a mechanical box on the Junction of the line between Perth and Stirling, it is a double lead junction tapering to single line at signal HJ7. Trains will enter the sim at Hilton Jn and be held at signal HJ7 awaiting slot release by Edinburgh. Slot release is done by clicking on the slotted signal HJ7. The signal will show white aspect when cleared.
In stand-alone running you will get the standard ‘train entering area’ message and the TD will appear. Hilton Jn signaller will phone after 4 minutes if not released and line is detected as clear.
When chained with North East Scotland you will get a ‘Train approaching Hilton Junction’ message similar to the stand-alone one. However, it will be up to the North East Scotland signaller to remind you if you forget to clear the slot.
A slot is not required before Edinburgh can send a train to Hilton Junction and a train from Ladybank will pass any train held at HJ7.
Note that the single line is 15 miles long, with a typical running time of 18 minutes; care should therefore be taken when regulating late or early running services.
Intermediate signals are provided at Newburgh, roughly halfway along the single line section, to allow trains to follow each other at closer intervals.
Cupar supervises Cults Mill and Hospital Mill level crossings; you will not receive any calls from these. When chained, the Cupar signaller on North East Scotland may request that you return EB665 to danger, to allow users to cross at those crossings.
You have the facility to stop trains proceeding from Cupar by operating the emergency replacement control on CP14. Note that this control does not function in when the simulation is chained, and you will need to liase with the Cupar signaller if you wish to hold traffic.
