Metro Cammell Ground Frame

A route must be set from signals 479/481 into the sidings, after the ground frame has been operated and the siding points moved.

A phone call is required to the Metro Cammell sidings shunter before the slot on 479/481 can be given.

Washwood Heath & Lawley Street

A phone call is required to Washwood Heath Reception to obtain the slot.

Trains for the Arrival/Departure line, Freighliner depot and Inland Customs require a phone call to the relevant location.

Lawley St inland customs, FLT, the A&D siding have a speed limit of 5mph within the sidings- it is not advised to route trains out onto the Up Main unless you're sure there's a sufficient gap in traffic from New St during the day.

Lawley St Through Siding also has a speed limit of 5mph. While less significant for trains shunting between lines at Lawley St (due to the same limit applying within those sidings), it will impact heavily on trains heading towards Water Orton.

There is no route from Signal 214 along the Up Goods to Signal 464; trains must cross to the Down lines or use the Through siding.

Many freight trains run-round at Washwood Heath, between signals 212 & 479. The loco runs round via signal 467 (U&D Camp Hill Through Sdg) and 214 (Dn & Up Goods). Care will be needed to work the loco across the main lines without delaying through trains. Also need to watch out for another train arriving whilst in progress, the second may need holding on the Down Gds to avoid blocking the Down Main. The North panel will need advising on routing said trains.

Landor St Junction

The TC between 452 and 455 is provided with a Track Circuit Override for permissive routes to be set towards 452 and 455.

Signal 203 subsidiary route to 455 requires proceed aspect at 455, unless the line to 455 is occupied and the TCO operated.

Landor St Crew Changes

Many freight trains are booked to stop at Landor Street Jn for crew changes; therefore care is needed if the train is early as it may wait there until it's due time. The crew changes take place at signal 203 for Up trains and either 204 or 206 for Down trains.

St Andrews Jn to Birmingham New Street

A slot is needed to route trains from St Andrews Jn towards New Street. Request a slot, and New Street panel will give one for either the Down Camp Hill, or U&D Camp Hill Down (bidirectional) line. Route the train according to the slot given.

Trains approaching from Birmingham New St

The track circuits in approaching NS94 and signal 201 will show occupied when a train from New St has progressed to a point where it will receive adverse aspects if signals 201/92 are red. Similarly, cancelling routes when these TCs are occupied will cause an adverse change of aspect to the approaching train.

Regulation Notes

It should be apparent from the details given above, combined with the track layout, that immense care is needed when routing trains around the Landor St- Water Orton section. It's very easy to cause delay to traffic due to low speed limits or trains blocking other trains for various reasons. In Multiplayer, close co-operation with the North panel signaller is essential.
