SaltleyPart of this panel was electrified with 25kV AC overhead wires in 1993 for the Birmingham Cross-City services. However, the electrification was done 'on the cheap', with the bare minimum of track wired to allow the service to operate. The following track is electrified:
Down direction: Down Gloucester from Birmingham New St-> Lifford West Jn-> Kings Norton P4-> Down Slow to Longbridge-> Down Main to Barnt Green P4-> Redditch.
Up Direction: Redditch-> Barnt Green P3-> Up Main to Longbridge-> Up Slow to Kings Norton P1-> Up Gloucester to New Street.
No other track is electrified.
A route is available from signal 41 (Kings Norton to Platform 4) to signal 47 (Bournville), which can allow cross-city services to turn back in times of disruption.
The central island platforms at Kings Norton are out of use.
The Fast line platforms at Northfield are out of use.
A phone call is required to the relevant lines at Longbridge Rover Plant to obtain the slot.
Redditch and the Halesowen turnback siding have Arr & Dep describer berths; simply enter the new TD in the DEP berth.
Take care with regulating 2Nxx/2Rxx/2Uxx trains with 1xxx trains at Kings Norton towards Five Ways; refer to the arrival times at New Street to decide which to send first. Often, the Class 1 trains are booked to follow a Class 2 into New St.
Note that the Up Goods at Halesowen is the last practical opportunity to hold freight trains before Landore St. Take care before sending trains out of booked order, or early, towards Landore St, especially if they're booked a crew change. Liase with the Centre panel signaller in Multiplayer.
