SimSig Victoria Central

Introduction

Welcome to SimSig Victoria Central! This simulation has been over three years in development with several visits to the real life signalbox to confirm details. Along with scheme plans, interlocking control tables, gradient information, and much more information, this is as accurate to real life as SimSig can be.

Overview

Victoria signalbox actually consists of two seperate sections, Central and South Eastern. This simulation covers the Central side, and a South Eastern simulation is also available. The two sections are located in the same room near Clapham Junction station. The operating floor consists of an oval central raised platform upon which supervisors and management oversee the operation of the box as a whole. The signallers face two large curved panel sections, operating from separate desk consoles.

The area covered is roughly Victoria station in London and the southern suburbs of London. Central covers the higher numbered platforms at Victoria, part of Clapham Junction, the West London Line, Balham, Streatham, Tulse Hill, Crystal Palace, Norbury, platforms 9 and 10 at Wimbledon, Mitcham Junction, Sutton, and Epsom Downs.

Five signallers operate the Central side at a time. New starters are usually trained on Panel 4 first, before progressing to other panels.

Chaining

Victoria Central can be chained to several simulations:

  • Victoria South Eastern (in seven places)
  • London Bridge (two places)
  • Wimbledon (four places)
  • Croydon2 (two places)
  • Wembley Main Line (one place)
  • 2 Part of Three Bridges signal box.

Note that this lists possible connections. It does not imply that a simulation exists, or will exist. As the Wimbledon simulation contains the double-tracked Latchmere curve, this Victoria Central will only chain to Wimbledon when run in 2014 mode. This simulation will NOT chain to Waterloo- as it shares more fringes with Wimbledon than Waterloo, trains won't enter at the additional fringes.
