Eras

Three eras are available in this simulation. Be careful to select a timetable appropriate for the era.

1980-1988

The most visible difference is that the Thameslink route doesn't exist- beyond Blackfriars, the line ends at Holborn Viaduct station.

The Linford Street- Nine Elms curve does not exist, this curve was built to provide a route into Waterloo for international services.

More crossovers exist at Factory Junction than in later eras, however there are less crossovers at Voltaire Road Jn and Shepards Lane Jn doesn't exist.

There are two ground frames at Penge (a crossover and a siding on the Up side).

It is possible to turn Up trains around at Nunhead.

The track layout at St. Mary Cray Jn/Bickley Jn/Petts Wood has changed significantly.

Swanley Jn has an Up siding, and Farningham Road has a ground-frame controlled crossover.

The Up Maidstone Goods loop does not exist.

1993-2003

As the title suggests, this era roughly covers the years 1993 to 2003. Shortlands Junction is a flat junction and Herne Hill has a southern-facing engineering siding.

2004-2012

Again, as the title suggests, this broadly covers the years 2004 to 2012. Elephant & Castle has gained a turnback facility from the south - mainly due to major engineering works at Blackfriars in the late 2000s. There is also a new turnback siding at Herne Hill for Thameslink trains coming from the north. Shortlands Junction has been remodelled to reduce conflicts. Fawkham Junction now exists (or, alternatively, has returned after decades of disappearance).
