Wales and Borders
Croeso i Caerdydd! This simulation puts you in control of the Welsh capital, along with 25 miles of the South Wales main line. Cardiff Central is the meeting point of the Valleys network, which operates a metro-style service to the suburbs and commuter belt, regional and inter-city express services to Bristol, London and the north, local and regional stopping services on the mainline to the west, and a healthy amount of freight traffic to the steelworks at Margam and the power station at Aberthaw. Keeping all that moving will certainly have you on your toes!
The simulation recreates the layout of the original PSB. The mainline panels run continuously, with the Taff panel (containing most of the local routes) separate. This also means that Cardiff Central station is split between the two panels, with detailed slotting arrangements between the two halves. If that weren't enough, the signalling engineers of the 60s decided not to provide the luxury of bi-directional working (with the exception of platform 4), so all terminating trains from the east must shunt across at the west end to form their next services from the Up platforms. Add a bit of late running, and a major headache can result! You also have the option of controlling St. Fagan's box, which supervised 3 crossings at the western end of the control area. This is only recommended for multiplayer!
Cardiff Vale of Glamorgan is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
