Introduction
Newport controls the first section of the South Wales Main Line, as the route from Bristol passes beneath the River Severn and heads towards Cardiff along the industrial coast of south Wales. At Newport, the line meets the Marches route from the north, and the most easterly of the 'Valley' routes heads up to Ebbw Vale. The important secondary route from Gloucester is also controlled, as are the entrances to various yards around Newport, all busy with steel and coal traffic.
The area sees a wide mix of local, regional and inter-city traffic, all funelling towards Cardiff- take care to get trains in the right order, and separated correctly in the opposite direction! The aforementioned freight traffic also keeps a user on their toes.
Newport is a payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
