London Midland Region
The Staffordshire simulation controls two major stations: Stafford, on the West Coast Main Line, and Stoke-on-Trent, on the busy main line to Manchester. The Stafford side of the simulation features the recent re-modelling of both Stafford station and the new layout at Norton Bridge, which is significantly more flexible than the former flat junction. The Stoke side features junctions with the secondary lines to Derby and Crewe (via Alsager) and numerous sidings, though the latter see little use on modern day timetables. The Stoke- Derby line is also simulated, which is largely controlled by mechanical signalling.
If the area appears daunting, there are a number of aids to help the user: ARS can be enabled, either for its real life extents (Stafford workstation), or throughout the entire simulation. Level crossings can be disabled, and the Derby lines can be switched to entirely automatic operation.
Traffic is a wide mix of Inter-City (both West Coast and Cross Country), with a number of regional services and the stopping service on the Derby route. The area sees plenty of freight, which can be a challenge to fit through the two track section just north of Colwich, and on the line to Wolverhampton.
The old Stafford layout is simulated in the Stafford simulation.
Staffordshire is a Payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires the purchase of a license from the Products area .
Chains to Crewe , Manchester South , Rugby North and Wolverhampton . Will chain to Derby when that simulation is updated.
