Introduction

Take control of the North and South workstations at York IECC. Controlling around 60 miles of the East Coast Main Line, the simulation is packed with variety. The southern half covers a two-track section of the ECML, where regulation is essential to keeping inter-city expresses and coal trains moving. The northern half contains the 'East Coast Racetrack', from York to Northallerton. Straight, level and fast, this section is somewhat easier to manage.

Numerous other routes converge on the ECML around York, from the main line to Leeds, and the branches to Scarborough and Harrogate. Passenger traffic is mostly expresses, of the East Coast, Cross Country and TransPennine varieties, with small amounts of local traffic at York. Freight primarily consists of loaded coal trains on their way to feed the numerous Yorkshire power stations, and the corresponding empties. Keeping all of these moving is part of the challenge- particularly around York station, which is less flexible than you may think.

The simulation includes two eras, which reflect alterations made at the southern end of York station to ease access to the Leeds line. As a bonus, the box at Gascoigne Wood is included, filling a small gap that allows the simulation to chain to the Leeds simulation at South Milford (the simulations also chain at Church Fenton).

York is a Payware simulation- to play beyond a short demo period requires purchase of a license from the Shop .
