When points are moved, the interlocking system needs to know that that both point blades are in the correct position, and locked.
The point motor normally has at least 3 connecting rods to the point blades, 1 to move the rails, and 2 to verify that both blades have moved to the correct position.
If this detection is not obtained, the Interlocking will prevent any signals from showing a proceed aspect when set over that direction. It does not prevent the route from setting.
