Displays Telephone Calls

Lists all incoming telephone calls awaiting answer.

Includes calls from train drivers, calls relating to trains entering from yards and sidings, calls from Level Crossing users.

Calls are answered by either double clicking the call, or highlighting the call and clicking answer. Alternatively, pressing the A key without the Calls window open will answer the first call in the queue.

Calls can also be made to other locations. Generally, this will be to request permission for a train to enter a siding. For details of where calls can be made to, please see the relevant Simulation manual .

Common Calls

This is a list of generic calls that might be received. This list is not exhaustive, and some calls may be simulation specific. Please see simulation manuals for simulation-specific calls.

Train waiting at red signal

Trains will phone in 2 minutes after coming to a stand at a signal. The responses are:

Please call back in x minutes	What it says!
Authorise driver to pass signal at danger	Ensure points are set correctly before selecting this option. This will also require you to type the first 4 characters of the train ID to confirm the command.
Ask driver to examine the line	To be used where the line needs to be examined, but the signal can be cleared. After giving this response, clear the signal.
Ask driver to examine the line and pass signal at danger	To be used where the line needs to be examined but the signal cannot be cleared, for example when allowing the first train to enter a section affected by a track circuit failure . This will also require you to type the first 4 characters of the train ID to confirm the command

If asked to examine the line, the drivers will ring back at the next signal, reporting if the line is blocked. They will also ask you if you want them to continue examining the line.

Train Delayed at station

If the train is delayed at a station due to various reasons, they will ask you if you want to replace any signals to danger. If you say yes, there is a window of about 30 seconds in which you can give the train an adverse change of aspect without penalty. The driver will phone again when the train is ready to depart, or to advise of further delays.

Train entering from sidings

When a train enters from sidings, either the driver or the yard controller will phone you. At some locations, you can deny the train permission to enter (you may have a train waiting to enter the yard), at other locations the only response is "OK", and you must deal with the train immediately. At a few locations, you can request that the train enters on a different line within the yard complex. Be aware that train describers aren't automatically inserted at most sidings, you will have to interpose the description at the first suitable signal.

Other calls

You may also receive calls from: Level crossings and drivers encountering an adverse change of aspect . Other calls may be simulation-specific, please refer to the relevant manual for more information.
