Could someone explain the purpose of the two grey arrows numbered 01 and 02 at Tyseley station.
There's isn't anything in the manual as afar as I can see.

Thanks

These are to select the points direction for overlap when calling a route into Platform 3. When you set the route to the P3 starter, you must press one of the two grey arrows, unless a route out of P3 is already set.

Thanks

I can't set a route into Platform 3 without setting the onward route first.
However, on this occasion I can't even do that after clicking on arrow number 02.

I seem to have misunderstood what needs to be done and have made a mistake 😐

191 - 163 - either one of the arrows depending what overlap you want to select.

I can't seem to get this move to work so I'm still doing something wrong.
Never mind. I'll revert to my previous method which worked ok for me.

If you set route 191 to 163 first, then select 163 to either one of the two arrows, then the route should light up. The screenshot shows overlap 2 routing.

Once you've done that, you can then set the route from 163 to the next EXIT signal, 161 or 157.

The grey arrows are tied to S163 and define which route is set forward from S163 in terms of point setting and overlap. You can't set a route to S163 without having the overlap defined to avoid potential conflict with trains from the Dorridge direction. Click from S191 to S163 then click the relevant grey arrow as part of the route setting move. That then fixes the lie of Points 659A so you can't set a conflicting route. You can set a route into Platform 3 without setting an onward route only if the overlap is enabled (which requires the points to be set by reference to which grey arrow has been clicked).

Explained in the manual here.

Thank you Postal. You have explained it nicely and I have just set an overlap accordingly.

As I am aging, I'm losing more brain cells that I would like, hence my confusion 🤪
