As a result of the Manchester Airport southern spur’s opening, train services have been comprehensively revised. Long distance services have been enhanced, with additional trains to south Wales via Shrewsbury, the south coast and London Paddington via Birmingham and to London Euston. Services are generally standard formations in standard timings: efficient, but slightly dull. Watch out though for scheduled use of the Chelford loops in each direction, plus a local service along the slow lines south of Wilmslow. The challenge now is getting closely-scheduled trains through the junctions at Cheadle Hulme and Wilmslow.
