A new WTT for Gloucester, awaiting moderator approval.

TT notes:

A full WTT for Gloucester in the second half of 2012.

Passenger
CrossCountry operates frequent express services to Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff, Scotland and the South West, along with First Great Western who operate 2-hourly HSTs to London Paddington. Between these, London Midland provide an hourly service between Birmingham and Worcester (and beyond), Arriva Trains Wales operate services between Cheltenham and Cardiff, and First Great Western provide local services to Worcester, Bristol and Swindon. Good regulation is needed to ensure that these all run with minimal delay, as well as the fairly frequent freight traffic.

Freight
At the start of the simulation, a light engine will leave the loco sidings. In it's description, it will say which day's WTT the freight traffic will run to.This, combined with quite a few 'Q' trains, means that the timetable should be different each time you play it.

I have used guesswork for the type of traffic conveyed, and the length of freight trains.

Lickey Banker: At the start of the TT, a loco will shunt from Bromsgrove sidings to the Banker Spur. When a train arrives that requires the banker, you must run the train standing in the spur to the relative timetable. For example, 6E49 show J:0E49 at Bromsgrove south. Therefore, when 6E49 enters the loop, use F2 to run the train in the banker spur (0B00 or 0Z99) to timetable 0E49. When the train arrives at Blackwell, the banker will detach (running as 0B00), and should be returned to the banker spur at Bromsgrove as soon as other traffic allows. The process then repeats for the next train that requires banking. I don't think this method of working is used now, but it's the easiest way to do it in the sim.

If you encounter any bugs, or have problems/questions, please post them below.

Enjoy!

I've tried to upload it twice and I get the message "You must enter at least one recipient e-mail adress", however I can't see where I can write this on the submit file form. However, under this message, there is another saying "All done" and then a note saying that files are checked. Mods, has the upload worked, or can you not see it? Appologies if I've sent it twice.

Yes it will say that but it will have been sent.

Congratulations on managing to upload it later than my submitted Peterborough V1.2, and you got yours uploaded first, I'm still waiting for my 1.2 to be approved so people have a fixed version

Anyway, I am off to give this TT a try!

James.

One found already, 2G95-1 has a stop time at Horton Road, is that right?
I had a call from the driver saying it will be delayed until 0035 due to assistance being given to a passenger

I then noticed a stop time is given here, don't know if it's supposed to be a pass time?

Probably someone a little too keen to get off at Gloucester! It should be a pass time, I'll correct it for the next version.

A bit keen! lol

A couple more:

- 0E20 has no join code for 6E20, though I haven't tried the other banker moves with J:xxx in them won't couple up to the trains properly anymore, though I believe there is a workaround I just removed the banker altogether and abandoned joins/detaches from the trains.

- 0Z01-TH ran for Thursdays, but 6M03 runs with 'FO' in the description, is that correct?

Cheers,

James.

Which trains were affected? I had problems during testing with trains which overhang the points to the Unitank sidings, and I thought I had shortened everything so that they didn't overhang.

No it isn't, some rules missing there.

Thanks for the bug reports, keep 'em coming!

Up to 0610 and a couple of minor things, very quick fixes you'll be glad to hear!

- 6M81 has no '-' between Margam TC and Round Oak, pedantic maybe but it just looks like one place name otherwise lol

- As for 6V74, there is no 'E' in Bridgwater!
Sorry, just when it is spelt with an 'e', it drives me up the wall! I don't live or never have lived there, probably just because I'm a westerner

Duly noted.

Umm, I think you'll find there is!

Just kidding, I'll correct it. Thanks for all the reports, and for being so observant!

Interesting timetable, thank you to the author.

I have one slight problem, which is quite possibly more of a simulation problem than a function of the timetable.

I train 6E49 waiting in Bromsgrove Loop for its banking engine. I assigned the relevant timetable to the loco waiting in the spur (which started off facing the wrong way in case that's important) and off it went to meet the train awaiting its arrival in the loop. However, it now claims that train 6E49 is in front and won't do anything.

Could anyone suggest a work around.

Incidentally, it's meant to be running a Friday timetable, and train 6E80 has turned up, which is a MO train.

tell it to run to another TT and step it up to its final destination, that should fix it

Just in case - have you checked that the TT for 6E49 is showing the current location as Bromsgrove Loop. Unless the train and the banker are both showing the joining point as their current locations, the join won't work. It's a long shot but it might be worth a quick look. If that fails, can you upload a saved game so that someone else can cast a different eye over things to try and solve it.

Thanks for the replies. They are both saying that they are at the same location. I have tried setting the loco to run to different timetables etc to no avail. This is doubtless a stupid question, but which file is it that I need to upload? And to where do I upload it?

F2> right-click 0E49> Timetable options> Edit timetable. Click on the last line of the timetable, and click 'set next/current location. Ensure that the train is pointing in the Up direction, and it should join.

Thanks, that's a TT problem that I'll sort out, let me know if you get any other trains that don't run on Fridays.

Can you save the game and attatch the save file to a forum post? The file is saved in the Program Files>SimSig>Gloucester folder and will have the suffx .SSG

I'm sorry to be dense, but when I try look in the Gloucester folder I only see WTR and WTT and photos available. And yet I save the simulation every time as an SSG in the same folder. Where does it go??

There is actually a typo in the action for two of the banker locos (so far) - they are instructed to join to themselves rather than to the train. They are 0M94-2 and 0E50-2, which have J:0M94-2 or J:0E50-2 in the action field, instead of J:6M94-2 or J:60E50-2.

Easily done and easily missed!

Mike (up to about 1300 so far)

Check your Public Documents folder- it may be there. Failing that, try searching the C drive for the file name.

I hope this is the right file. I couldn't find the right button the attach file box, but I found it in the regular My Computer box and copied them over to the main registry.

Sorry for the bother, colossal hang over. I'm sure someone will find an obvious problem with that I was doing.

Spotted the problem- my fault not yours. 0E49 had the join location set as Bromsgrove, not Bromsgrove (south). To fix it, Edit the timetable via F2, and change the location to Bromsgrove (south)
