Hi All Unable if anyone would be able to help me here, however, would anyone happen to have a copy of the book Loads to be conveyed by class 4, 6, 7, 8 trains. (Unsure of correct name here) for the year 1978/1979. Currently I have all the appropriate WTT's, but do not have any information on lengths or weights carried on such trains. James Log in to reply |

For that time period trains varied considerably in weight, size and braking characteristics on the Western. There were probably more vacuum braked trains than air then. You need a sectional appendix really if you can hold of one and/or a working book for freight but they are not easy to get hold of now

I've also got one BR Western Region freight train loads book dated between 1975 - 1977 split down into the various Western Region depots & includes loadings for diesel hydraulic locos. Depots listed are Bristol, Swindon, Plymouth St. Blazey, Penzance, Barnstable, Exeter, Gloucester, Newton Abbot, Taunton, Westbury, Worcester, Yeovil. You let me know what you want specifically & I'll see what I can do for you. Log in to reply |
