Tested and confirmed ... I would doubt that this is a local arrangement so I can only assume this was perhaps a small error in the coding.

While wrong in this case (you can only ever send one train), an auto button onto a single line is not as uncommon as you might think - usually for when a parade of trains pass in the same direction, onto and then back off a single line.

Agreed, I just didn't know how else to describe the line. Probably deadend branch?
