I recently had some time to kill, and decided to draw a sketch map to show the fringes of Victoria Central. It then got a bit bigger and now covers all of South London. And now I thought I would share it with you lot :-P Any thoughts? Larger version available here: South London Rail Map Cheers, Matt EDIT: Re-uploaded with the last version I worked on over a year ago. I may update it at some point... EDIT 2: (June 2013) I have finally got round to editing the map. New version uploaded. Last edited: 01/06/2013 at 15:26 by mfcooper Reason: typo Log in to reply |

I have added the 'y' to Wembley. I had mis-spelled one of the "Wimbledon" labels. Now corrected and changed in the original post. (And it is 'le', not 'el' in Wimbledon)

East London Line added. Lines re-coloured to prevent clashing colours at fringes. Now I need to go out, but I have just realised some other edits I need to do. 1) Rename "East London Line" to "New Cross Gate" 2) Add a location label on the ELL North of the river Thames (Wapping, Shadwell or Whitechapel) 3) Add some text saying "Lines coloured according to controlling signal box/centre" (or similar) Log in to reply |

Gloucester Road, IIRC the line to West Croydon goes under the main line from Streatham to East Croydon. <pedant off> Looks good Matt. Log in to reply |

Sutton to Streatham via Croydon is missing. Also, Blackfriars to Herne Hill goes under Brixton to Peckham. Nice map though!

Geoff, I used to have the Sutton to Streatham via Croydon link on a previous version, but it disappeared when I made some changes to the Croydon layout. I have changed the layout at Herne Hill, and got the backfriars-HH line under the brixton-peckham line. I have also edited Waterloo through Clapham Juncion section, trying to get some pattern regarding number of tracks to width of line. Approximately using... Line Width (pixels) = No. of Tracks + 1 ie: 1 track = 2 px, 4 track 5px. Still some inconsistencies, though. I'll change them as I go. Log in to reply |

But the controlling signal boxes won't change, so neither will the diagram.

Fantastic map and very useful as it shows some non-passenger routes that I may or may not know about and will be a very useful reference instead of having to consult any aerial photographs from sources like Google Earth / Google Maps, Bing Maps or any other similar service from another company. Huge thumbs up here - couldn't fault it! Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Just a quick one, you've missed out Hampden Park signalbox between Polegate/Pevensey & Westham and Eastbourne. Apart from that your map looks great, well done. Regards Darren Log in to reply |

One addition is the manual box still in use at Reigate (between Redhill and Dorking Deepdene) , this box also operates the level crossing at the end of the station on a very busy road in and out of the town.

Is it just Reigate between TBASC and Guildford? I'll try and update the map at some point, but need to find access to a windows computer to manage it! Log in to reply |
