Hi guys & welcome to the good old days. Here we have the Summer Saturday service in Devon in the yearr 1980. This is my first tt so please don't be too hard on me. The trains are taken from the Working timetable section PC May 1980 - May 1981 and includes all holiday trains that ran at that time. Please feel free to comment

Dam ! Beaten to it with a Summer Saturday timetable ! Always wanted a Summer Saturday timetable for Exeter as this was always a favourite time when I lived down there. Great that you've done 1980, as I was in my early teens then ! I've been working on separate Summer Saturday and Sunday timetables for 1985 which are about 3/4 done each. Haven't tried yours yet, Derbybest but it'll get me in the mood to do more with mine ! Log in to reply |

Simdmuk, Nothing wrong with you creating a 1985 Summer Saturday / Summer Sunday timetable. In-fact having one from 1980 and one from 1985 may actually be quite interesting as services, routes and traction may be a bit different in each timetable so it'd make an interesting comparison. Derbybest, Congratulations on publishing your first timetable for SimSig! I'm sorely tempted to try this timetable out so off I go to download it. Hope it is as good as I'm expecting it to be Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Just started running through it already and whilst it's not a critical error, shouldn't 7B14 have "Passing time" ticked for it's Whiteball Tunnel timing point? Playing away and suddenly I get a message saying "7B14 departed from Whiteball Tunnel 4min(s) early" ::

Ok a couple of issues have come up with trains on the Barnstaple branch. I think this is because of one train working. In the 80's i think you could have more than this on the branch. I remember having to delete a train while testing & maybe i forgot to delete the return working from Barnstaple. Still i'm quite happy with it for a first attempt

Yes I noticed that before I began. The 1985 tt is a weekday tt.As the pattern of services on weekends was quite different to weekdays, I felt that the weekend tt's would compliment the weekday one already released. Plus it would add to the various 1985 timtables in the SimSig collection!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I am currently having a go with DerbyBests offering and enjoying the rest before the storm. Did like the idea of the tamper crawling up the bank at Exeter at 1mph. I did notice that although showing as coming on the panel on time 1A07 (the sleeper?) actual passed Totnes 4 early which was just as well because the movement to Buckfastleigh 0Z00 was timed to leave 1 minute earlier than the pass and there might have been problems with them both. Excellent offering so far Derbybest and congratulations Geoff. Log in to reply |

derbybest, Quick thing I have noted on this 1B06 02:53 Taunton to Newton Abbot actually goes to Paignton and then becomes 5B06. Up to 03:50 and still enjoying it Geoff Log in to reply |

I have noticed that when 1V44 arrives at Paignton that it still occupies the train circuit across Paignton North Level Crossing and the crossing will therefore not automatically close until the train leaves as 5V44. Is that normal or should the consist be shorter to stop this happening........bet there are not too many holiday makers chuffed with that one....mind it is a bit early to be going to the beach. I'm currently running this timetable and rather enjoying it. Only got to 06:50 so far, I guess it gets busy from here!! I got caught out with 1A63, not realising I had to put it through Tiverton Loop. A reminder in the instructions to click on Tiverton Parkway to move the platforms would be helpful. I see in my score I've had a few "routes cancelled with train approaching" errors, which are not my fault, I think its the auto-raise on the crossings, if i've had a route set across in both directions at once, the barriers raise once the first train has gone resetting the signal to red in the other direction. (This is the first time I've used the latest version of exeter, the earlier one automatically lowered barriers for you as well, that was a lot easier! ) {later} its now 0715 and I've spotted a problem with the timetable for 2b84-2 - 0620 exeter to exmouth and back. The problem is on the way back, I've just noticed that after leaving exeter central platform 2, next calling point is exeter st davids platform 2. This seems to be impossible, and I guess it should be p3. I'll let you know how I get on later. Regards Alan Log in to reply |

Regarding the level crossing issue, please see here and here. Regarding Tiverton Junction, I definitely agree adding some extra 'instruction' (guidance?) to ensure that you click on Tiverton Parkway to get rid of it and make Tiverton Junction appear wouldn't go amiss. Regarding 2B42-2, I guess it would be upto the signaller to platform the train appropriately until derbybest can reply with the correct platform that it should be. Hope This Helps. Thanks UKTM. I have since come across the problem with the exmouth line not clearing when using the warner route, but thanks to your pointers I have now read all about that too. Here Derbybest, well done, very good for a first TT. Its getting really hectic now! Log in to reply |

Hi Guys. Thanks for all yoour fedback. In response to your commenta - Yes i probably should have mentioned about Tiverton Jcn but i thought everyone knew about that. UKTM is correct in saying that the td at Paington should be at the back of the train. With regards to Exmouth trains on Plat 2 at Exeter St Davids this should of course read Plat 3. A revised version is under way so keep your eyes on forums as i 'think' these problems have been sorted Log in to reply |
