If I understood your question correctly, the answer is yes. Start the sims as you were hosting, select 'Network Play' and then 'Server'. From the other sim, select 'Multiplayer' > 'Connect to external signalbox' and use IP address 'localhost'. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: tjfrancis |

Hello, it's not the local IP you need, it's the following: 127.0.0.1 Each version of the simulation would use above IP (Local machine) Internal IP (192.168.xxx.xxx) etc is what would be the IP used behind a router for port forwarding, this is not required for a local host. Log in to reply |

To expand on Howards comments... Each sim needs to be started as a server and paused. You'll need to note what port each sim is using and they will need to be using matching timetables. Once each sim is running, select a sim and connect it to it's neighbour. If they are on the same PC, use 127.0.0.1 as the address and the appropriate port for the sim you are connecting to. If you are running across different PC (and using a network) you'll need to use the IP address of the PC the sim is running on AND the port the sim is using. You only need to make one connection between each pair of sims. e.g. If you have two sims A and B...if connect A to B but you don't need to connect B to A. On the other hand if you connect B to A, you then don't need to connect A to B!! Once you have connected all the sims you should be ready to play. FInd the master sim and unpuase it. This will unpause all the chained sims and off you go. Log in to reply |

" said:hi ail just a update just tryed the new bighton and lancing chagin it dose not work is it some thank to do with the timetableWhat is it that doesn't work? I've just checked, and a connection can be established- I started Brighton on Port 50505 and Lancing on Port 50507, then connected to Lancing on Port 50507 from Brighton. The default timetables are compatible- they're both of the 15th October 2009. It would really help a lot if you provide us screenshots of any messages indicating failure in connecting. You could also provide some screenshots on the settings you use to "host" and "connect".

Start both simulations as a server, choosing Port 50505 for King's Cross and 50507 for Royston. Then, in Royston, go to MNU> Multiplayer> Connect to external signalbox. Select King's Cross from the list, if you're running them on the same machine the ip address is 127.0.0.1, and the port is 50505. Ensure the 'Synchronise time' box is ticked. Click connect, and you should receive a connection request on the King's Cross simulation. Accept the connection, and the two simulations are connected. You can use other ports if you want, but watch out for your antivirus software attempting to block SimSig when you start a server- mine popped a box up asking for confirmation. Connecting from Royston to King's Cross means that King's Cross has control of the pause button and clock speed. If you want Royston to be in control, start the connection on King's Cross. I should create a TT for Royston with all services listed on King's Cross TT? Cheers, CTC. Log in to reply |

" said:Both simulations need to be running compatible timetables. The only one available is Summer 2003 (the TT supplied with both simulations). If you want to run another TT on King's Cross, you'll have to write the Royston part yourself. EDIT: Check if the KX timetable is available on Cambridge- the Cambridge TT will include full times for the Royston area.
