So, I've been playing with this sim the last few days. I love it, especially since I love London's tube. I've read the manual, but I can't figure this out... I know some of the trains don't go the whole route but stop at Seven Sisters. The question is: how can I tell which trains are these? The only way I can think of is to check every single train when it's no more than a couple of stops away, is there a better way? If I forget a train and it goes to platform 5, then it goes off ATR and becomes pink, then it gets to the end on line and stops there, piling up trains behind. Is there a better way to handle this? Check the ARS settings. Press the F3 menu and click on the ARS tab on the top. On the right is a drop down box for what happens when you press the train description. If you select 'ARS pop up information' a full timetable will be displayed rather than the next few stations in the messages box at the top of the screen. An alternative could be to use the F8 simplifier popup if you have another screen free

Under Tool2 there is a facility to create an ARR/DEP file which sorts trains by station; that might help. I think someone made simplifiers for other Sims so that maybe an idea? Also you can export the timetable to an excel spreadsheet; have not tired so can't be certain how that would help. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

At the top of the timetable window there is a section showing the train details (e.g. Identity: V201-1, Description: Brixton to Walthamstow). The ARS popup works great, thank you! I just started a new simulation and I'll see how it goes. Do you suggest leaving the Seven Sisters area on manual, to avoid that in a moment of distraction the automatic system gives the wrong route to a train? Log in to reply |

Yes - When I operate the Victoria LUL sim, I always leave the entry signal to Seven Sisters on manual to avoid a train going the wrong route. You have probably noticed that the number of trains terminating at Seven Sisters varies depending on the time of day, and it is quite hard to predict which train will need to be routed into which platform.

OK, I just realized I had some major confusion. Apparently there are two different automatic systems... Until now, I would enable the automatic signals by clicking on the A next to them, but this only makes them keep always the same route. Leaving the A signals non-checked, lets the ARS system set the routes according to the trains timetable. So now I wonder if the A checkboxes on the signals are just an unwanted leftover... Or else when should they be used?

You can use the 'A' buttons to assist you if you turn ARS off. ARS I guess is a logical software programme for route setting whilst the 'A' buttons simply 'hold' the route set by the signaller with no intelligent changes. Hope that makes sense.

The auto working facility on a signal ("fleeting" in US terms) just keeps the same route set regardless of whatever else is going on. Automatic Routesetting sets the appropriate route when necessary, based on times and other trains. Most IECC workstations (ie with ARS) have auto buttons as well. The Western ones (Slough New, as was, and Swindon B) don't have auto buttons. Not a problem... until one has to switch ARS off in certain areas for whatever reason, then the signaller's workload goes way up. Had there been auto buttons, not so much. There should be a pattern in the off-peak too. If you are keeping tabs on what is going on, then generally (at least in the 2013 TT) every 3rd train terminates at Seven Sisters in the off-peak day time
