How to insert Edit links on a Wiki page? 20/03/2014 at 13:03 #57450

I'd like to insert Edit links after each alphabetical letter block in the Wiki Index page, e.g., an Edit link so only the block containing all lines starting with A are open to edit. This will break up a page into smaller sections.

I can't find out from the Syntax page. All I found was:

Quote:
Sectioning

You can use up to five different levels of headlines to structure your content. If you have more than three headlines, a table of contents is generated automatically – this can be disabled by including the string ~~NOTOC~~ in the document.
I don't think this is what I am looking for. Can anybody help me here? Thanks.

The Dokuwiki manual on the internet indicates that the insertion of the Edit buttons is governed by a parameter set on the Admin page (page presumably only visible to those with the relevant rights). It is tied to the headline level used to set the section header.

Delving into some pages in the SimSig Wiki, it looks as if the Edit button may be added to sections using Level 1,2 and 3 headlines (set as ======Headline Text======, =====Headline Text===== and ====Headline Text====).

Thanks postal and apologies for missing your earlier reply. This is all I could find in the Wiki. Unfortunately the Index page, being an index page, does not have the required four heading sizes necessary before this feature will apply, hence my original post.

I suppose I could try putting some fake headings in to see if I can make this happen.

You could just put letter headings, ====A====, ====B==== etc, which would give you an edit button at the bottom of each letter. I don't think you need to have all four heading sizes present.

I did what you suggested and finally got it right, though it needed 3 levels of heading to work.

Not only does a Table of Contents make it easier to navigate a long page by clicking on the letter of the particular alphabetical section, but when it Edit mode it automatically inserts Edit links after each section.
