Regarding the intermediate platform signals, if a train occupies both ends of the platform (a Pendo for example) the intermediate signal will remain Yellow. is it correct to cancel this once the train is in the station, or is it left off? same question again but assuming the train is to terminate and reverse?

On a recent visit to the panel I can confirm the signallers were cancelling the route at the mid-platform signal.

I would imagine it would have to time out too as the conditions would not have been met to release the approach locking, although this would not be noticeable on the panel with the tracks all occupied anyway.

This may be why it is pulled up once the train has arrived to save a potential timeout once the train has gone.

In Simsig at least, the signals revert to red if a train reverses out of the platform - if that's the case in reality too, there'd be no worries about a timeout.

If the signal shows a proceed aspect and then is replaced to danger by any means without the conditions being met to release the approach locking, a timeout is required.

It may well depend on a signaller's preference. Many a time I've seen trains stopped for a long time with the intermediate signal still showing proceed. I would assume that cancelling the mid platform signal is not preferred until the train has been confirmed to come to a complete stand by phoning the platform staff (or waiting a long time) - otherwise you'd be putting back before the complete train has passed which is generally disliked.
