Error message when loading certain Sims. 05/07/2015 at 22:07 #73939

Since updating to the latest core code I have only really placed Horsham, LTS and West Hampstead.

I have today tried to run Shrewsbury, and another in development sim, and both have return pop-ups with error messages where they didn't previously. I can only assume something in the updated core code doesn't like these sims?

Example from Shrewsbury attached.

I've fixed the issue that causes this to popup on Shrewsbury, it was only brought to my attention yesterday by another tester.

It won't cause any issues with sim(game)play so there's no need to worry.

I'm going away for two weeks tomorrow so I'd rather not push a new release out when I'm not here to support it.

I'm not sure whether it should actually be producing that message in the loader though (Things like that I'd normally expect in the compiler that we use to build the sims). Maybe Clive or Geoff could answer that one?

You hope! I added that message after losing two days debugging a problem.

For everyone else, this message means that track circuit AFCS4 says that it's connected to AFCS2, but there's no track circuit AFCS2! Therefore you've got a potential hole in the layout.

It's in the compiler as well (added at the same time). The message in the loader is a last-ditch trap for errors in older sims.

(It wasn't in the compiler before because it wasn't completely trivial to add the test and I hadn't realized the loader just ignores the missing track circuit. Most other missing objects are trivial to test in the compiler, and it already does so.)

Just to clarify for anyone reading - As I said above this won't cause any issues as the train actually exits the sim on Track AFCS4, so it would never get to AFCS2 track anyway.

Clive the reasoning behind it makes sense I hadn't realised it wasn't in the compiler previously - Though in hindsight that explains why the error was never highlighted to me before.
