UIDs and multiple in's and out's of an area 11/07/2015 at 11:06 #74125

Hi everyone

I'm currently writing and updating a lot of timetables for a number of sims using UIDs. It's all working well but I've come up with a query specifically regarding RHTT but can also relate to other trains that repeatedly enter and exit a sim area.

I know that the UID should usually remain the same for the train from start to finish and I've been using the rules "train a must not enter until x minutes after train a has left the area". With the RHTT's they enter and exit via the same entry/exit points 4 times throughout their schedule, so the rules are that they should return after 7 mins; after 25 min and after 60 min.

So should I alter the UID each time they exit or can the sims differentiate using the timetables to know which of the rules it should apply in each case.

Hope that makes some sort of sense

Gareth

Gareth in my timetables & usually with Trip services that run as either 6Txx or 7Txx I tend to allocate the 1st train with UID 6Txx, but when the train re-enters whether its the same location the train exited from I then tend to allocate the UID 6TxxA, then 6TxxB & so on(xx denotes the last 2 digits of the train ID). That works for me & I can't say I've had any issues except with one timetable in particular where the trip service tend to run as either or. John(postal) has experiemented with that timetable by using this new decision option which until he has explained to me how to apply them I'm not using that part yet. But that particular timetable was the only one where the entry & exit of specfic trains with the same TD caused some additional issues. I use the same rule as you mention in your post except for example on Saltley where a train goes off sim at Birmingham new street via the Gloucester lines & re-enters a few minutes later from Birmingham New street on the Derby lines. in those instances I actually use a location in the rule. That seem to work OK for the Saltley 1995-1996 timetable.

My understanding is that to make the rules work you need to have either unique TDs or unique UIDs, or at least if you do then it will work as desired. "1A00 will not enter till 1A00 exits" seems very chicken and eggy to me. Whether that's a correct understanding I don't know.
