Afternoon all, In the course of adding some freight trtains to my new SwinDid TT and one of them, in openTrainTimes, has a runaround at "Swindon East Loop". The train - 7B12 (11:35 Merehead Quarry - Wootton Bassett FY) - heads up to Swindon and passes through Swindon station on the UML, not on a platform line, before heading into "Swindon East Loop". But SEL is not marked on the SimSig layout for SwinDid so please could someone tell me where I should put that train? I genuinely have no idea and onece in SEL there is a runaround. Cheers, Dave Last edited: 16/08/2015 at 15:11 by DaveHarries Log in to reply |

Judging by what else is timed there, it appears to be the Down Goods line. Use the location 'Swindon Dn Gds', which covers the track between signals 26 and 273. The loco most likely runs round by heading to the Down Relief Sidings, then into the Transfer Sidings, emerging from the Down Yard and reversing at signal 261. The loco move isn't shown in RTT, as is usual for run-rounds.

It's the area of the sim labelled "Down Goods" - between SN273 and SN26. Don't have the sim to hand but on the panel you'd route 65 - 263 - 273. Loco would then uncouple and go back out to the LOS on the Down Main (277), reverse behind 216 up to 28 and drop onto the Bristol End of the train from 263 signal. Usually the train then pulls forward to SN30 ready to proceed West. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Steamer |

Thanks Steamer / James N. The runaround isn't shown in the Network Rail WTT either! Anyway I came up with the schedule as attached but the system has problems with it. Advice welcome: a bit confusing since 7B12 arrives Swindon DG at 1340 and leaves at 13:58 according to the schedule. So where have I gone wrong here? Dave Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Dave just use set down for the times - with a custom dwell at the 2 reversing points of say 1min 30 secs - should give you plenty of time to couple up and get away on time.

What the system doesn't like is the Line & Path options. Dave Log in to reply |

The Bassett Stone always ran round on the Up Reception when I was there as a shunter. Failing that it would go in to the Down Reception although it came off the road going in there once and shut the mainline for nearly a week in 1988 I think it was

As far as 0B12 and 7B12 are concerned one is fixed but I now need help with the other. I asked SimSig to validate the TT for 7B12 and got the response showin in SS1.JPG. The problem with 0B12 has, however, been fixed. Question now is: how do I set up 7B12 and get rid of the error? Dave Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Swindon East, Path DL, Line DG Swindon Down Goods Swindon East, Path DG, Line DL Swindon Plat 4, Line ML. That will validate, I've not tested it with a train so I can't confirm if ARS will route it correctly. More fun. Runaround 0B80 for 6B80 supposed to reverse on the UM at Highworth Junction and then rejoin 6B80 by reversing at the Swindon end of Highworth UGL but validator doesn't like it.
