Evening all, Tried a mini-session with my new Bathampton Junction TT this evening and ended up with more problems with the Thingley Junction ECS movements. 5A03 transferred over to the up line (as it should) and came to a halt at 1074 but then failed to move back to Chippenham at its scheduled time. A look at the train list (F2 one) revealed that the train was still showing as running in the Down direction when it should have been the Up direction. If I told the train to reverse direction it wouldn't do so. Anyone know why? WTT, game and F2 screenshots attached: any advice / thoughts appreciated. Dave Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Dave, Your screenshot shows the train is off ARS. I suspect the reason is you had to manually route it as ARS couldn't do what you are asking of it. I suspect that is the case as it's not possible. I tried to reproduce what you are trying to do and I cannot reproduce your TT and have it verify correctly. It fails on the line codes and try as I might, I wasn't able to create the line codes correctly to make the train reverse as you would like. The only conclusion I can draw is that what you are attempting at Thingley Jn is not possible. You have to remember, just because a track circuit has signals each end, does not mean it supports reversing trains. Drivers may having to get out to walk to the other end of the train and that may not be a safe place to do such a move. Given the sim is ARS, if you can't get ARS to route the train there and reverse it on it's own without manual intervention, I very much doubt such a move is possible as you are trying it. 5A03 still facing DOWN so wont reverse (I assume that its not a reversing location in the sim)- looks like you will need to manually change the direction of all the reverses at Thingley Jn via F2

Train TTed as below works, albeit not under ARS (ARS probably best Off for out of order working):- Chippenham - - ML Thingley Jn ML - ML Chippenham ML - ML Train will reverse automatically at TY Jn. Another method (maybe not authentic) could be to reverse the train in Thingley Yd. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Update: Tried using a next working at the reverse point, works OK apart from ARS thinking the train is running SimBiD to Bath , calling the slot, then setting route from wrong signal (but then that's a sim issue). 5A01: Chippenham - - ML Thingy E Jn ML - UL Thingy Jn UL - ML N:5A01A 5A01A Thingy Jn - - ML Chippy ML - ML Maybe with refinement might work 100% ARS Post has attachments. " said:5A03 still facing DOWN so wont reverse (I assume that its not a reversing location in the sim)- looks like you will need to manually change the direction of all the reverses at Thingley Jn via F2 I did try that but it automatically went back to facing the Down direction. " said: The only conclusion I can draw is that what you are attempting at Thingley Jn is not possible." said: Train TTed as below works, albeit not under ARS (ARS probably best Off for out of order working):- Thanks Lardybiker & Andy. Will reset them to this, then try another test run. Indeed it was all to do with authenticity: my understanding is that this was what was being done IRL. I would have gone for a photo or two from a field next to the junction when I was on my way back from Didcot RC on Saturday but there were no HSTs for Chippenham due to the strike. Cheers all, Dave Log in to reply |
