55 posts 		Here is a clip I recorded at work back in April this year. It's 23 minutes in total and contains plenty of passenger and freight trains, as well as a look at the signal box panel. It's an relay box dating back to 1960s, slated for replacement in early 2018.

The station is rather busy with anything between 85 and 100 train movements each day. There are 4 lines converging here, all single track and electrified:


  • The mainline, northeast towards Avesta Krylbo, Storvik and the North, mostly freight, 6 dayily passenger services in each direction

  • The mainline, southwest towards Hallsberg, Gotenburgh, Malmö and continental Europe (to look at the big picture). About the same traffic as above

  • The Fagersta - Ludvika line to the north. Mostly passenger services running mostly every second hour, with a daily freight train carrying steel slabs from the works in Smedjebacken.

  • The Fagersta - Kolbäck line, mostly carrying local passenger services which runs through to Västerås and providing a connection with Stockholm (also a single daily direct service in the mornings, and back in the evening)
