Has anybody else experienced a problem getting the TRTS messages to work? I have ticked the appropriate box but the function does not seem to work. I have no problem getting messages about trains dividing and joining but the TRTS messages do not come up! ARS is switched off.

Terry.

I don't know the answer to your question, but it might help if you provide more details i.e. which sim/version number you are running.

It seems like you are referring to Swindon A and B? If so, I'm doubtful as to whether TRTS actually exists on that sim, which might be the issue.

Good spot. Correct, there are no TRTS indicators on this sim.

Thanks for your interest. Apparently there is no facility for this function on this 'sim'.

In general, TRTS is provided at specific locations, rather than as a general panel facility.

Most commonly, this is at major stations where paths across the station throat(s) are at a premium, such that setting a route for a train that is in fact delayed would often cause major disruption even if subsequently cancelled (due to approach locking). So York has it, as does Lime St, Waterloo and most other major termini.

There are also a few other, non-station locations where TRTS is provided as a more efficient alternative to yard phone calls. This can be seen at Clapham Yard on the Waterloo sim.

Swindon station did have TRTS at the time than Swindon panel controlled it but it was either disused or unserviceable for a long time prior to closure. Can't remember which it was.

Disused (and probably therefore unserviceable!) - dispatch method statement and box instructions stipulated parcels and ECS traffic only.

It more than likely worked but was just never used. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have radios to communicate between the panel and the platform staff so wouldn't necessarily need it anyway.

Whenever I got a train through Swindon it always had the signal off before it arrived anyway so would have rendered TRTS irrelevant.
