HELP!!!!

I dropped my external drive (which my SimSig installation was on) and now it's goosed. Luckily all my saved files are on the C: drive so no problem there. I have a new drive arriving tomorrow but in the meantime I planned to just re-install SimSig on one of my other drives (even the C: drive if need be!)

So, I downloaded the SimSig setup files (v5.21) from this fine website and commenced to re-install with the aim of installing it on my D: drive.

Nowhere within the install process is there the ability to point the install to a particular location, and at the end of the initial set-up once I press "install" I get the message "The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another."

Looking at the Installation Guide on the Wiki there should be a section after the Licence Agreement page to select installation location but this does not appear.

Anyone able to help?

Edit to add - I also tried with firewall and antivirus turned off in case this was blocking something to no avail.

Edit to further add - I managed to install but only by re-lettering one of my other drives(which was empty anyway) from E: to F:. So there must be something going on in background (regedit or something - beyond me) that is forcing the install to look for the previous install location.

IIRC you can just move the SimSig folder from the "C:\Program Files (x86)" directory to wherever you wish. I'm not sure how the uninstaller would cope with that if you ever wanted to uninstall.

[Edit] Re-read your post. I'll have a think. It's Innosetup if that's any use.

Assuming it is Innosetup having remembered the previous install location, I believe you may find it in the registry under:
Quote:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
Then I'm not sure as I don't have the installer script on this machine but I think it has a fixed GUID so check if there is:
Quote:
{954D6F88-A55E-4296-AAB4-C55DF3DED998}_is1

underneath the above node and delete the entire node with that name (NOT Uninstall but the 954D etc one).

If you don't have that node then use the Find function to look for:
Quote:
SimSig\unins000.exe
Standard precautions apply: back up the registry before modifying.

Thanks Geoff.

I had a poke around regedit to see if I could work it out - I couldn't and tampering with the registry scares me.

Luckily I had a couple of spare drives I could use without mucking around with the C: drive.

Thanks again.
