ARS incorrectly setting call-on routes into platform 2 at Laindon 17/04/2023 at 20:09 #151202 | |

In the morning rush hour there are a number of 5Nxx ECS trains from Fenchurch Street or East Ham to Laindon platform 2, where they become 2Nxx trains from Laindon back to Fenchurch Street. These 5Nxx trains often arrive early to Laindon, while the previous 2Nxx is still in platform 2 awaiting its departure time towards Fenchurch Street. When this happens, ARS sets a call-on route for the 5Nxx into the occupied platform 2. This puts the trains in the wrong order, and since the platform is too short to accommodate both trains, creates a mess. A workaround is to make the 5Nxx trains non-ARS as they approach Laindon, and turn ARS back on when a route has been set for the 2Nxx train, but it seems to me that ARS shouldn't be setting call-on routes when the trains do not have a "platform share" activity in the timetable.
