Just a quick question regarding a platform change arranged via a call to the station supervisor, should I wait for the period of time it states in the supervisors response before routing a train into the revised platform to avoid a "wrong platform" penalty or can they be routed immediately, without penalty, but may just have a longer wait?

The latter - the supervisor is telling you how late your platform change is going to make the train

You can route them immediately, but the train won't depart until the stated time has elapsed. The idea is that the train will wait for the passengers to come over to it.

Thanks both, that is what I thought it was (as the length of time seems to be reflective of the platform locations, ie cross platform is an immediate change whereas a change from P1 to P5 takes more time - based on Stafford station). Only reason it prompted me to ask was that a couple of services that arrived into amended platforms appeared in my messages with "wrong platform" stated so it got me wondering

I take it that if you have given the station supervisor enough notice before the time of the departure, there would be no reason why the train doesn't depart right time?

Correct

In simple terms it starts a timer from when you make the call, with each change combination being given a “time taken” value - if no value specified in the code I think the default is around 5 minutes.

It is a feature that needs to be manually written in by the sim developer - so I think only simulations released since mid 2022 have it; and only then where it was thought worthwhile the effort.
