Bizarre failure of a phantom signal 18/11/2017 at 22:29 #103046

I was just playing a game on Watford Junction and I got a signal lamp failure, of a signal which seems not to exist... Between WJ768 and WJ764 the outline of a controlled signal has appeared, which has no aspect and a strange affect on the aspect sequence of the signals preceding it. It seems to hold WJ768 at danger with all controlling track circuits unoccupied at WJ764 on. However, if I clear WJ764, WJ768 will clear quite happily to preliminary caution. The phantom signal is still there on the diagram. Though apparently not on the ground, since trains can pass it without noticing.

A save game is attached along with a screenshot.

For context, this occurred after updating to the new version of the loader, in the middle of a save. By which I mean I saved the game on V4.6.4 and loaded it up again on V4.6.5.

It's a banner repeater- you must have 'filtered it out' while it was working. The behaviour seems logical- if the signal it's repeating is at danger, the previous one will also be held at danger because the banner isn't providing 'protection', as it were. With the signal off, the banner is less important so the previous signal will clear.

I had a look and using your save I got the same result, However starting a new game I found that the signal in question is a banner repeater. I seems most likely an incompatability between the old loader save and the new loader.

Was typing my respose as steamer posted his

Ahhhhhhhhhh, that explains everything, yes I'd totally filtered it out I'm sure, and it just so happens that on this sim, nothing comes up with a right click, no signal number or anything.

Now I understand, thanks!

How do you filter out a banner signal?

Sorry, bad phrasing on my part- I meant filtered out in the perception sense (i.e. TUT hadn't really noticed the banner was there when it was working), rather than a software option to disable them.
