Oxford-Bicester Tokenless Block Still Shows Train In Section After Train Locked Inside Banbury Road Sdgs GF 22/11/2017 at 18:56 #103181 | |

I'm running the 1978 TT, and have just run 6A41 into Banbury Road Sdgs. The instructions in the manual:- "Ground Frames All ground frames operate similarly on this branch. To operate the F control the Acceptance Switch must be in the Accept position, *or* a train must be on the approach track to the ground frame (detected locally but not repeated to Oxford PSB)." - didn't work in that when the train arrived at the GF the frame wouldn't release. The only way I could release the frame was to turn the acceptance switch on the tokenless block instrument to 'Accept'. The train called in to report inside clear, so I restored the frame and pressed the 'Train Arrived' button as instructed. 6A41 has disappeared from the F2 train list but the red 'Train In Section' indication is still showing on the tokenless block instrument. Is there any way of cancelling this? Regards, Phil. Log in to reply |

To answer your specific question, have you tried left-clicking the Acceptance Switch (to normalise it), then left-clicking the "train arrived complete" box? I've tried to emulate not getting a release as you describe, but can't make it happen. The attached file is poised ready to run. FWIW, my sequence of activities is: 1) offer 6A41 to Bicester in the usual way 2) wait for it to arrive at Banbury Rd GF 3) Show the lever frame window 4) press the F button on the panel when 6A41 reports arrival 5) click on the Annetts Key box on the lever frame 6) reverse lever 1, then lever 2, then normalise lever 1. 7) click on the Authority to Proceed box on the lever frame 8) wait for 6A41 to move (may take several minutes if it's early) 9) receive notification that 6A41 has arrived at Banbury Road GF 10) click on the Train Arrived box on the lever frame (this normalises the block instrument and clears the red blob) 11) remove Authority to Proceed tick, restore the levers and remove the Annetts Key tick 12) right mouse click on the "F" on Oxford Panel to restore everything to normal Good luck with the 1978 timetable. It's considerably harder than it looks, especially around 06.00 and 18.30-19.30. Whatlep (Peter Whatley) Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Hi Peter, I did everything in the order you describe, but the frame wouldn't release so I clicked the acceptance switch to 'Accept' and it allowed me to release the frame. The TIS indication didn't go out when I pressed 'Train Arrived' but I was able to lock the frame and restore the block to 'Normal', albeit with the red TIS indication showing. Because of that I did wonder if I'd be able to release the frame to allow 6B41 to depart, but it did and when I pressed 'Train Arrived Complete' after 6B41 cleared the single line it cleared the TIS indication, so looks like an indication failure only. I had a similar problem, but I'm fairly sure its user error in my case. I'll use the notes above next time I have an opportunity to send a train into Banbury Road, and see if I have more success.

The way I just got it working on Loader 4.15.1 / Oxford 1.3: tick Train Arrived after unticking the authority to proceed, but before returning the points to normal & restoring the frame. Ticking train arrived before unticking the authority would not clear the red blob. AJP in games Log in to reply |

However after some experimentation I found that the ground frame would release, with the acceptance switch in the normal position, after I waited a little while. I had to wait about a minute or so, but it was definitely before the booked time, so if anybody else encounters this problem in future: try leaving it a minute or two after you get your phone call, you should then be able to release the frame. (P.S. I had the other problems in this thread as well and they were solved by following the advice in the posts above. I'm not sure whether simply waiting and releasing the frame with the acceptance switch normal had any effect on the 'Train Arrived' button correctly clearing the block because I didn't try pressing it after normalising the frame, I pressed it straight away) Last edited: 08/04/2021 at 23:28 by TUT Reason: None given Log in to reply |
