Hi all,

I’m not really sure where to put this as this isn’t really a wish for a simulation itself, but more for a feature within simulations. Would it be possible to add a feature that stops crossings being blocked by vehicles; and calls from crossings requesting the crossing being held open for herds of cows, slow vehicles, etc. when the simulations are run in timetable developer mode? It would help immensely when testing timetables! There is currently no way of turning them off when running the simulation.

Thanks!

Mark (Gwasanaethau).

Developers have the facilities to do this if they want. Peterborough already has it, for example - it's a startup option.

Yes, its there in Peterborough, Clive but doesn't quite work as it should.

Even if calls from crossings are switched off calls from Bainton and Bainton Green still continue, others are fine.

I have reported it a couple of times in the Peterborough area of the forum (never acknowledged though) and I guess its low down the list of things for rectification

I've also seen this behaviour in the Peterborough sim, but the calls don't come very often, so it's not a show-stopper and thus a low-priority issue.

It doesn't seem to be in Mantis for some reason. It is now: 18888.

I can see why it's happening for Bainton, but not Bainton Green.

I'm sure is Bainton Green as well, but I'll have a run through tomorrow just to make sure..

I've just run Peterborough (with no trains) for 24 hours (at high speed, obviously). Bainton has called twice; nowhere else has called. That matches what I'd expect from looking at the source.

And another run with Bainton fixed gave no calls at all. It'll be in 4.1.4, but I can't yet say when that will be.

Hi all!

Thanks for looking into this, but just so that we’re all on the same page, my report isn’t just limited to Peterborough (my personal experience is with East Coastway and Horsham) but to all sims where there is a ‘Timetable Developer’ mode. I just want to make sure! ;)

Thanks again,

Mark.

Yes I confirm that - just run it for 12 hours with Bainton only,

My mistake - sorry...

As I said, it's up to individual developers. Any developer who isn't sure how to do it is free to contact me - it's pretty easy.
