Could someone please give me some information.

I have a train in Platform 19 which is 69m long and another approaching which is 207m long.
All the Edinburgh manual tells me is that Platform 19 is permissive.
How do I know whether the platform is long enough to accommodate the second train?

The maunual doesn't give the lengths of platforms 1, 20 or 21 either.

Does anybody know?

1R10 and 2B03.
The odd thing is, I know that the combined length of these 2 trains is 207m (unless my arithmetic is wrong), therefore, if P19 is 250m long they should fit comfortably. I have now gone back to a previous save and intend to put 2B03 into Platform 1 and deal with the consequences.

It wouldn't have helped me knowing that P19 platform length is 250m, as I would have routed 2B03 in there in any case.

What is causing the overhang I wonder. (See attachment)

Furthermore, would it not be a good idea to edit the Edinburgh manual to show the missing platform lengths?

Nice busy sim by the way. Running it with Waverley, Haymarket and one or two small junctions close by and just about managing with the odd pause to check the whereabouts of trains in the phone calls and also dealing with other events elsewhere in the sim.

Update:

I did what I said I would do, although routed 2B03 into P17 instead of P1 as it is now occupied. I then sent 5A41 into P19 and got a repeat of the problem insofar as now 5A41 straddles the points.
Incidentally. 1R10 is still waiting for joining train 5R10 which was supposed to arrive from Haymarket TMD at 04.25, but hasn't yet materialised.

I know that this is probably a bit boring, but I have attached an earlier save (60.20) so that, if they wish, someone can play it through and see what I am doing wrong.
In the meantime I might just keep diverting trains into different Platform.

5R10-1 seeded in platform 19 at the start of the simulation. It should have joined 1R10-3 at around 00:23, and departed at 04:25. The length of those trains plus 2B03 is 276m, hence the overhang. For some reason, it seems like the join hasn't completed.

My understanding is that the wiki manuals can be expanded by any member, so that sounds well volunteered that person :)

Yes, you are correct. The time I gave above was the time that the combined trains were supposed to go toHaymarket TMD.
I have actually restarted the sime to see why I missed the arrival of 5R10, but didn't see it anywhere. Whatsmore, I can't see 5R10 arrival in the Simplifier, unless I've missed it.

Wouldn't the Train List show both 1R10 and 5R10 in platform 19 waiting to join, because it doesn't. Odd.

I'm probably talking jibberish. Don't remember seeing 5R10 being seeded.
I'll start again somewhere before 04.20 and deal with things.

I think I've found the problem. The timetable you're using is from the original version of Edinburgh, which didn't have the generic seeding feature that most simulations have. However, it did have a set of entry locations used as seed points. The timetable you're using uses those entry points, which the latest version of Edinburgh doesn't support. Is the timetable the one included with the simulation? "Edinburgh August 2006 v3.238.0" works.

Quick solution is to remove 1R10-3, reverse 2B03 into the platform and carry on. However, you may still be missing some trains from the simulation- the seeds include most of the stock for North Berwick services, which never leave the area.

For people's information, I have added the above platform lengths to the Edinburgh User Manual in the 'Documents' section on the Website.
