The sidings are labelled 'Research Siding' and 'P.Way siding'. You need to phone the shunter before sending a train there, they'll say which siding they want the train on.

And make sure you phone early because not all entry points to RTC are available from the Goods Lines. P'Way can only be accessed from the station.

Interestingly I had a train from Etches Park enter, timetabled for Way & Works then RTC. RTC then said it had to go in P-Way. I worked around this by amending the train's timetable to reverse in the station, rather than at Way & Works.

I may have missed this in the manual, but is there anywhere that can access P-Way *and* Etches Park that counts as a Way & Works location?

More specifically the RTC 'P-Way Sdg' (also colloquially known as "in under the box" and "in at 423" (a reference to the exit signal number)) is only accessible from Derby Station platforms 1,2 or 3.

No, Way & Works refers to the Pilot Sdg or Connecting Line. You did the right thing by sending the move in question to the station to enter via the P-Way Sdg. I echo the comment made by bfc mik regarding ringing early for moves into the RTC, and also see my other comment in this thread specifically re accessing the RTC 'P-Way Sdg'.
