Having played that lovely sim of Chicago L which is good and fun. Can't help noticing on Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_%22L%22 that there are 3 extra lines on the Chicago L in real life. The 3 lines that are not on the sim is Red, Blue and Yellow. I am wondering if the Chicago sim is worth updating to include the 3 extra lines as the reason of expanding is that London Bridge is really big sim game and contains lots of lines and stations so would the 3 extra lines on the Chicago L sim be too much for Simsig? I am not knowledgeable in that field of making a sim but there are people out there on Simsig who are better than me to make the sims and have done loads of really good sims such as Manchester, Scottish, Welsh and others including the Victorias and Wimbledon, etc, etc, So, in short, can the Chicago L sim be made bigger to include all the lines that are done in real life? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_%22L%22#/media/File:Chicago_L_diagram_sb.svg Log in to reply |

The Yellow line is a branch a long way from the central area the sim models so would not be relevant. The other two lines (Blue and Red) are sub-surface lines across the central area with no interface in the area to the elevated lines modelled by the sim. Adding these two lines would add little to the sim as you would just have trains entering from one side of the sim, travelling along without any need for regulation or signaller intervention or interface with the existing lines in the sim and leaving at the other side. At a tangent, there is a full set of cab-rides on the Chicago system available for free viewing on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0-sTc_CuqtXDvfQIx_Za5kG8nB4nz8FU so you can follow trains on the Blue or Red lines and see for yourself. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 02/08/2018 at 16:26 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: axmh |

The other thing to note is that the sim developer might not have the detailed information required to expand the simulation. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: axmh |

I think Chicago loop was intended to cover the area controlled by one tower rather than controlling the full network, in a similar way that Marylebone only shows part of the relevant LUL lines

This sim was only ever intended to be a fun part of the L, as in the ELevated loop section which is the busiest part of the network. As Postal says, the blue/red lines are underground and do not interact with the elevated part in the loop area (though they do outside). Sorry, but I don't have much interest in expanding the sim further. SimSig Boss Log in to reply The following user said thank you: axmh |
