As the title says, I don't get any train entering system messages on Hunts Cross.

I have the message enabled and the sound on, and it seems fine on other sims.

I've been noticing the same thing on Peterborough, but only after my last loader update. Except, it's only _mostly_ not sending messages: trains from the fringes or from Peterborough Yard don't generate messages, but trains entering from Nene CS (which call first) do.

The same thing is happening on Manchester East since v1.5.1 was released, but only for trains entering from Miles Platting and Brewery Sidings. I suspoect there is a background coding issue in that case. Possibly something similar in the other two sims referenced?

It looks like, if an entry point is not assigned to a workstation, these mesages dont appear. I have corrected Hunts Cross, however on Manchester East, the entry points of Miles Platting Junction and Brewery Juntion (Or Sidings) I can't really assign to a single workstation as they arrive in the sim in two seperate locations.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but if the alerts worked in previous versions (and I'm sure they did), is it possible to reverse whatever changed in v1.5.1 to cause them to disappear? Or does that give chaining issues with the Miles Platting junctions which are hidden from users' sight?

The changed made which caused the problem is core code, so nothing changing in the sim data will help.

And the new core code was required to make the Aussie sims work, so that can’t be backdated either.

I’m sure the powers that be are beavering away at getting it sorted.

Sorry to contradict the last two replies but it was neither related to the Aussie sims, nor would core code cure it in a satisfactory way. Previously everybody in a multiplayer game would get "train entering" messages even though they didn't control that area. It seems some sims are missing entry point data that assigns that entry point to a workstation so nobody now gets the message.

The cure is threefold:
1. The compiler that the devs use will raise a warning if an entry point has no workstation set
2. The devs will fix the entry point data.
3. The core code will default to either reporting to everybody or just the host (not decided which) if the data still doesn't include a workstation.

Note that I'm not berating the devs here. It's only recently that we started to use the Workstation field for entry points.

Perhaps a solution for the particular problem at Manchester would be to make it possible to define more than one workstation for an entry point, so that (in this case) the two workstations would get all messages for that entry point? It wouldn't be perfect (since some of the messages are only relevant to one workstation and some to the other) but it's better than everyone or nobody getting them.
