is there any free train simulators where all what you have to do is download it and play. (not make tracks but have routes already in place)

Try openBVE Birmingham Cross-City South http://www.railsimroutes.co.uk/index.php It's a little tricky to install first time. Make sure you read and obey all the instructions carefully and in the right order. Log in to reply |

Have a look at this. You'll need either BVE4 or OpenBVE to drive on Cross-City South. BVE4 is a cab-only train driving simulator, where-as OpenBVE allows you to view outside the cab and see down the side of the train as you're driving, etc, etc but the train author would need to have created 'external views' for that. You may actually find that only one of them actually works for you, i.e: BVE4 may not work on Vista or Windows 7. It might be an idea to look around first, find some routes and trains that you'll want to see which ones are available for which version as it may only be available on one of the versions. On that note, have a look at the BVE Routes Wiki as that would be useful to find routes. In terms of trains, here are a few links for them; BVE Routes & Trains Trainsimcentral - You'll find a selection of London Underground routes there as well as a selection of trains to download too. There is also a very useful drivers guide on there which you may want to read through as that'll give you hints, tips and general guidance on driving. Also, check out Eezypeasy for some excellent routes. And of-course, I couldn't forget a recommendation of BVE4.net as this is the place to download 'Network West Midlands' route which is truly fantastic with so many different 'diagrams' to drive with varying traction (p.s: don't let the URL put you off, the NWM route is available for both BVE4 and OpenBVE). I hope that gets you started, for now. Just to add, - BVE stands for 'Boso View Express' - Watch out with all those routes and trains, there are so many good ones out there that I've got nearly 4 or 5 GB of them in total now.
